How about this for a dark night of the soul: I'm angry, I'm confused, I'm exhausted, I've been betrayed, and the one person who matters to me more than my very life has been taken away-all because I listen. I'm Rowan Gant, and I'm a Witch who has the misfortune of being able to hear the voices of the dead. Not just any Witch can do that, but rest assured I don't consider it a gift. Truth is, I think of it as a curse, and I'm not at all happy about it-especially right now. You see, I've been using my unwanted ability for several years to help the police track down the really bad guys. The worst of the worst... Spree killers, serial killers, you name it. I've purposely dragged myself through the depths of Hell time and time again, all for what I saw as the greater good-stopping deranged killers and saving innocent lives... Now, after all that, the cops I've helped are turning their backs on me. My best friend-former best friend now-just walked my wife out of our house in handcuffs. She is being charged with a homicide he knows damn well she did not commit. I do too, because I know my wife. Besides, I know exactly who the real killer is-Miranda. But, the cops aren't listening. In fact, they won't even talk to me. I've become persona non grata to the law enforcement community that once came to me for help. So I guess I'm going to have to find this Miranda bitch all by myself. Maybe that's a good thing, because I'm not playing on their team, then I'm not playing by their rules anymore either...
