"THEY ARE ALL LOIARS, YER INNER VOICES, Secret Silent Voice, of moine?
Naasty, too, sometoimes. (Spesh'ly that Fat Controller-Type Voice Person, what with all (of) its Angry 'Shoulds and / or Should nots' and also with all (of) its - Spooky Soilinces.)

An' they think they're so goddam funny. Which they obviïssly ain't.

'Wish we still 'ad that Noice Voice (that one they've obviïssly killed to Death and / or toied up in a Sack, somewhere), Silint! Then we'd be ahr True Self (again), at lahst!"

A Wretched Comedy portrays the delusional (and ludicrous) attempt of its anonymous protagonist to redeem himself and save his species. As the Prologue begins, the protagonist (say, an average hYooman being of, say, faraway planet Llòranogge) reawakens. Accordingly, his somewhat unorthodox psyche begins to churn. Memories and emotions press for attention. Ritual self-persecution and self-justification are resumed. Recent news of natural disaster, war, famine, despair, coming plague, and religious hypocrisy is recalled. The protagonist begins to dread his day of work (as, say, a lexicographer). He resumes the revision of his Daft resolution on saving Planet Llòranogge, his own miserable attempts at fiction, and the "ongoing novel" of his life. He recalls that Old Bob (Or) - a local vagrant of distinctly uneven temperament - has apparently expressed the desire to kill him. And he becomes aware of an apparently new inner voice.
