The editor's previous book, "Handbook of Power Electrical Systems Dynamics: Modeling, Stability, and Control "explained the background, causes, evolution, and the effects of blackouts; this book presents advanced solutions for stability improvement to avoid blackouts and solutions for better and more efficient control.This book is split up into three parts. The first part describes the configuration, operations, control strategies and projects already implemented of the HVDC technology. The second part deals with description, modeling, application and installations in operations of FACTS devices. The third part referees to the system design, operation and control. Each device or AI techniques is covered in individual chapters, together with drawings and suggestive illustrations that will help the reader to easily understand the principle of operation or application.
