Located on the western banks of the Hudson River, about 150 miles north of New York City, Albany was originally explored by Henry Hudson in 1609 and settled by the Dutch starting in 1614. For the first time, the most complete collection of photographs of the Albany Senators, the city's professional baseball team for 75 years, is compiled within, with rare images of the destructive fire of Albany's capitol building in 1911.
