In the constellation Cetus, human colonists that live inside the cloudwhales have created a kind of erotic utopia, but human nature is still imperfect. In truth, the cloudwhales themselves are endangered both from outside and from within.
This generation-spanning saga begins with a journey by three young adults: the brothers, Jib and Keter, who both love Asia. She refuses to choose between them. Their visit to the cloudwhale's inner forested region soon gets interrupted by a violent attack upon a tourist by a native carnivore. The three manage a successful rescue, but this evidence of imbalance in the environment triggers a cascade of tumultuous events over decades!
