A digestive ostomy is the creation of an opening from the small intestine or colon to the skin. It is usually a simple surgical procedure commonly performed in general surgery departments. Despite the simplicity of the procedure, the creation of a digestive stoma can lead to serious general complications during the postoperative period due to fluid or nutritional loss, as well as local complications requiring special care and sometimes even repeat surgery. Furthermore, this new body image will have significant consequences on the patient's daily life, both physically and psychologically. The stoma therefore deserves all the care it is given.
