"Glory," said Private Mitchell, who was sitting in the seat to Jon's left. Jon didn't know what he meant by that. He didn't know much about him at all, or any of the other guys, but at least he knew their names.
Just then the Lockheed C5M Super-Galaxy started to rumble for takeoff and the seatbelt light lit up, so they all put on their seatbelts.
Jon said, "What do you mean, Glory?"
Mitchell clarified, "That's what I joined up for. Glory."
Dmitri snorted and jeered in his distinctive drawl, "Pah. Glory? What's glory?"
Mitchell replied, "Glory in victory or death. If I live and defeat the enemy, that's glory. If I die fighting, that's glory too."
Jon said, "Well, where they're taking us you'll have plenty of opportunities for glory."
Mitchell said, "So you think we're going to be deployed in Iran?"

"Eagle's Glory" is the story of four soldiers, fighting enemies within the US Army, and enemies who attack from outside. What will be the outcome? Who will win the battle? What does it mean to win or lose? These are the questions confronting Jon as he goes on his first mission and grows as a soldier and a man.
