Fifteen to 40% of suicides leave suicide notes. Suicide notes have been studied as potentially valuable resources for unlocking the motives of the suicidal person, but these efforts have been hampered by small sample sizes, or analysis of one age group. This book represents the first large scale analysis (1200+ subjects) of motivations for suicide across multiple ages in the same time period, 13% of whom left notes. The book discusses top motivations for suicide, how these differ between note leavers and non-note leavers and what this can tell us towards better prevention.
