Years ago, the Holy Spirit helped Ryan realize his life was not aligned with God's standards as outlined in His Scriptures. After some reflection, he realized the reason for this was fairly simple: he was not in the practice of reading the Bible. So, how could Ryan expect his life to bring God glory when he wasn't even sure how he was supposed to do just that? Since God lifted those scales from his eyes, Ryan has delighted in spending time reading God's Word daily. The more he reads, the more the Holy Spirit helps him to learn about God, as well as realize areas of his life that he still needs to submit to His lordship.
From this experience, Ryan now has a strong desire for others to take hold of this same passion for the Scriptures, which is what compelled him to write this text. Ryan is admittedly not a Bible scholar. However, he does proclaim to be a Bible student. As such, much of what you will read in these volumes references many giants of the Christian faith that God has used to help Ryan gain a deeper understanding of the context, application, and proper handling of God's revealed word. (There are also still plenty of thoughts Ryan will share that he felt like the Holy Spirit illuminated to him as he read and studied each day's reading.)
The intent of this text is to progress through an assigned reading and set of reflection questions daily. Resist the urge to work ahead, as the slower, more methodical approach can lend itself to a more intimate time with God.
Ryan's prayer and heart is that what is shared will be helpful to each reader in growing to love the Bible (and the God of the Bible, more importantly). May it be said of all who follow Jesus that He is our Firm Foundation, the Rock upon which we stand!
To God, alone, be the glory!
