Kompletní popis

A sudden encounter with a physically challenged person trying to navigate his way through the crowded corridors of my college awakened me to the hardships physically challenged people undergo every day. I was shaken with the way he moved on all fours in the galleries of the college, people knowingly, unknowingly or knowingly- unknowingly either didn't pay attention to his plight or were not aware how they could contribute in improving the situation. I felt embarrassed, ashamed and even helpless all at one go! This sudden encounter changed the course of my research and setting apart my research on human rights of children and especially of girl child I moved on to studying human rights of physically challenged people in India. Result of this study is in your hands which is just a small step to awake interest in disability studies, enlighten people about the problems, hopes and aspirations of physically challenged persons and strengthen disability studies in my part of the world so that the vast differnce between theory and practice can be bridged sooner than later.
