Kompletní popis

Batch processes are very famous for their flexible operations for the production of fine and specialty chemicals. The economical operation of a batch process could only be possible if the required production is achieved in minimum time with efficient scheduling. Amongst all scheduling methods, sequencing is the most effective method to reduce the overall completion time that is known as makespan. Sequencing is the order in which raw materials are processed. To find a sequence with minimum makespan, the makespan for all the possible sequences has to be determined. The number of possible sequences increases exponentially with increase in number of products thus making the task of finding the optimum sequence laborious. This book suggests a convenient and robust solution compared to the existing ones for scheduling batch processes using matrix representation for various transfer policies practiced in industrial processes for the transfer of product intermediates in between the various stages. The potential readers include process design engineers, research students, scientists and anyone else who may be interested in scheduling particularly for multiproduct batch processes.
