This book is the result of several years of graduate-level teaching and research in the physics of materials at Université Ibn Khaldoun in Tiaret. It is addressed primarily to students enrolled in the Master of Physics of Materials program, Semester 2, within the Algerian LMD (Licence-Master-Doctorat) framework. The writing has been guided by the ambition to combine scientific rigor with pedagogical accessibility, enabling students to progress independently and methodically in mastering sometimes complex concepts.The central objective is to provide a thorough understanding of polymeric and ceramic materials, with emphasis on the fundamental relationship between their microstructure, physico-chemical properties, and modern industrial applications. Special attention is devoted to recent developments: conducting polymers, biodegradable materials, and functional ceramics for energy and biomedical applications.This enhanced edition contains new theoretical developments, worked examples, comparative data tables, and numerical case studies drawn from the current literature. Each chapter concludes with a graded problem set to allow self-assessment.
