At independence, most African states expressed the desire to develop educational systems geared towards development especially industrial development. Almost more than half a century has elapsed and the existing educational systems are yet to respond to the initial development goals at the outset of independence. Poverty is prevalent in most African countries with the rate of human and economic development very low. Education has remained mostly theoretical and almost void of orientation and purpose.
