Scientific structuralism is an approach that focuses on the relations described in a scientific theory, rather than its ontology. It includes, but is not limited to, the view known as structural realism, which holds that all we can know about the world is its structural features, and that it is only these structural features that our scientific theories successfully describe. In response to structural realism, other scientific structuralists, such as Bas van Fraassen, have developed an antirealist view known as structural empiricism.
