Kompletní popis

Sarah Kofman (1934-1994), a Professor of Philosophy at the Sorbonne in Paris and the author of over twenty books, was one of the most significant postwar thinkers in France. Her interests ranged from Freud and psychoanalysis to Nietzsche, to feminist theory and the role of women in Western philosophy, to visual art, and to literature. As the child of Polish Jewish immigrants who lost her father in the holocaust, she was also interested in Judaism and Anti-Semitism, especially as they are reflected in works of literature and philosophy. This book is a comprehensive anthology of some of Kofman's most significant writings on these and other topics, the first publication of its kind. Its purpose is to provide a general introduction to Kofman's thought, which has been highly influential not only in Europe, but also in America, on students and readers in such areas as Literature, Philosophy, Critical Theory, Women's Studies, and Jewish Studies. Although some of the selections have been published previously, the majority of the book's contents appear in English translation for the first time.
