The hybridization of silicon nanoparticles with other semiconductors or metal oxides nanoparticles may exhibit superior features, when compared to lone, individual nanoparticles. Similarly, gold-silicon nanohybrids could be used as highly efficient near-infrared hyperthermia agents for cancer cell destruction.
