At the start of the decade the most a player could earn was Ł20 a week; by the end the Ł500 a week footballer had arrived. Jimmy Greaves was himself one of the great heroes of the decade and provides a uniquely personal view of the events in which he was involved, including the fun days with Chelsea, his disastrous move to AC Milan, the disappointment of being left out of the World Cup Final and the elation of being part of the first British club to win a European competition.
