The Novelist Jude Rand continues to write his series in a military magazine about his father's adventures in the Vietnam War as a helicopter gunship door gunner. In Book 2, Jude delves into the enemy's side of the conflict, the North Vietnamese Army and Vietcong guerrillas' tremendous effort to win the war at any cost. Jude also describes the Christmas and New Year's ceasefire of 1968, showcasing the violence that can happen, and what could be called the lighter side of the war during holiday celebrations for the 14th Assault Helicopter Company in Chu Lai. Finally, Jude illustrates how elephants and bicycles proved invaluable in the victory for Ho Chi Minh and the North Vietnamese. As always, Jude Rand ends his fictionalized account of each section with a memo to Charles A. Zachary, the owner of the magazine, explaining how he acquired his information about the war and what is happening in the world around him.
