This latest short story by Bill Mays centers around a young nobleman, Kantino, who decides to seek out solace after being rejected and humiliated. His betrothed bride marries his childhood rival leaving him stunned and embarrassed before his elite peers. The young man's solace leads from relaxation to revenge. He turns inward, seeking someone trained in the dark arts of black magic with hopes of uncovering a way to make both his former betrothed and her new husband pay for what they've done to him. Kantino soon learns that black magic has its price and spells should be left to those trained in their use. This story is a commentary on those raised without limits or consequences for their actions. Wealth and prestige does not always bring out the best in people, and lack of self control or responsibility most definitely leads you down a dark path. Join Kantino for the lesson of a lifetime.
