This study investigates the effect of subliminal cue stimuli-that is, stimuli presented below the threshold of conscious perception-on the subsequent detection performance of target stimuli. It examines whether controlled shifts in attention can occur despite the absence of conscious awareness. To operationalise the theoretical constructs, this experiment employs an adapted form of the cue paradigm (Posner, 1980), in which the participants' reaction times and response accuracy in detecting target stimuli are empirically recorded.
