Utica is known for its diverse cultures and ethnic neighborhoods strewn out across the city.
In the 50s, 60s, and 70s many will say was the true booming era for this small upstate city.
Manufacturing jobs and small family-owned businesses were a common sight throughout the city.
West Utica was probably the most diverse part of the city with its manufacturing and family-owned businesses on almost every corner.
Sadly today's Utica is nothing like the Utica of yesterday. Buildings stand vacant and if you drive down the streets you see empty storefronts and abandoned factories.
You see empty lots that were once family homes.
