Today, little is known about the weapons, uniforms and living conditions of the Japanese soldiers (Heitai), undisputed conquerors of almost all of East Asia during the Second World War. In this sumptuous illustrated book, both the reader and the historian can finally see the personal effects of the infantryman of the Imperial Army. Thanks to a carefully preserved collection over the decades, every aspect of the Heitai's daily existence is presented in detail with beautiful colour photos accompanied by descriptions. The pieces are classified from weapons to clothing (tropical and polar), including power supplies, communications equipment, decorations, helmets, badges, vision devices, gas masks, water bottles, cameras, tents and shoes. Also included are the propaganda posters and readings provided to Heitai during long, quiet periods in service, isolated on the Pacific Islands. By studying the equipment of the Japanese soldier - from dagger to toothbrush, from grenade to underwear - we can discover the history of these soldiers much more in depth. At the same time, it is interesting to note the differences between the equipment of an Imperial Army combatant and that of an IM and how, in many cases, they are similar. As the indispensable companion of the unavoidable Landser, this immense work on Imperial Heitai provides a unique insight into the Japanese fighter who was once the most formidable enemy of America.
